i'm loving the little garden arc rn bc I think zoro's behavior is a peak example of how luffy changes him as a person. when he and the others were getting turned into statues he was completely serious and was about to cut off his own legs so he could try to go out fighting. dire situation that he was treating with a dramatic sense of urgency. and then he sees luffy for 0.2 seconds and immediately starts doing bits. he's bleeding out and turning to wax and he's ribbing nami about striking a cool pose. the instant luffy is within shouting distance zoro reverts to a silly little guy. which is really just what luffy brings out in him all the time. zoro is fundamentally a goofball but he only drops his serious façade when he knows luffy has his back

Serendipity should be required viewing material before anyone tries to analyze Homestuck; not only is John Cusack a universal constant, but the themes and vibes of Serendipity are so fundamentally woven into Homestuck's DNA that several of Serendipity's thesises and conversations could be lifted directly from one to the other.

In particular, the way Serendipity utilizes coincidence and circumstantially simultaneous events in order to suggest - nay, decree - that the two leads belong together, is highly reminiscent of the way Hussie uses foreshadowing, and not just for romantic couples. It's also a major window into the ultimate stance Homestuck takes with regard to romance, fate, and destiny, and also more specifically, a really good look at Karkat's own personal philosophies of romance. There's a running theme in his movies of meeting someone that perfectly matches your freak, someone you don't ever need to compromise yourself around, who brings out the best in you.

Also, some of yall need to watch a shitty romcom every once in a while and develop some emotions

not to get sappy on the dash but i do think the way kyle very clearly puts everything he has into every single role he does is insanely commendable and inspiring. and after Twenty Years in the industry?!!!? he’s not resting on his laurels whatsoever he’s not phoning anything in it doesn’t matter what’s going on with the script or the direction or any of the other performances he is just consistently so sharp and so on his game!!! it actually makes me really emotional like he clearly takes his craft so seriously!!!! literal generational talent imo and he will be rewarded for it. Ike appreciation post! Path of Radiance Ike is such a genuine and so sweet and pure-hearted🥹he's such a rare kind of main character!

He's blunt (to the point of being considered rude) and honest in a way they don't allow many main characters to be, he makes mistakes but he always does his best to learn and apologize when he messes up! He's not dumb or oblivious! He's actually very perceptive and understanding of others, especially of Soren! He seems to be able to read Soren's emotions and quirks as much as Soren can read his! Most would assume Soren isolating himself and looking depressed is just "typical Soren" (in Titania's words lol) But Ike can see through it and can tell how much he's truly hurting🥺 He wants to help Soren and protect him! He knows exactly what to say when he reassures Soren when Soren's being down on himself!🥹(Ike would hate anyone who hates Soren, he is Soren's #1 defender) He loves Soren so much, they BOTH know the most about each other. Ike wants to be a good person and do good things and be there for the people he loves! He values freedom and equality!

He believes in people and the goodness in others, but when he witnesses true evil he does not hesitate to strike them down. Interestingly (or not because or how stupid most misconceptions about Ike that are spread are) unlike most would assume about Ike, he's NOT obsessed with fighting. He is not the typical fe character obsessed with fighting trope. He takes no joy in being a part of the wars and hurting others. Most of his boss conversations is him asking the enemies to retreat or surrender, and when there is no other choice, he fights. Because he has no other choice. But his first choice is to be merciful. He enjoys sparring because it makes him feel close to his late father, he says sword training helps him him and (we also know that he is desperate to prove himself and avenge his father) he wishes to become stronger to protect his family.

Ike witnesses horrors and the harsh truth of the world what war really means. By the end of radiant dawn he's SO tired. But he still makes sure that the world of Tellius is doing well and recovered before he leaves with Soren.

He trusts that they can manage peace and harmony. He believes in them all!

(If i wanted to make a true Ike appreciation post I'd just post the entire two games if i could lol)

Probably one of the worst aspects of the Abusive Adam subplot is how it’s a deeply ignorant person’s idea of what an abuser looks like

To quote Lundy Bancroft’s Why Does He Do That? Into the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men:

An abuser is a human being, not an evil monster... The common view of abusive men as evil, calculating brutes can make it difficult for a woman to recognize her partner’s problem... She doesn’t realize that he can have all these positive qualities and still have an abuse problem.

They don’t pop out the gate screaming and swinging, like Adam did at Beacon. Abusers know how to be charming, how to play to the crowd, how to twist someone’s reality until they don’t know which way is up. Lots of folk don’t even realize they’re being abused because they’ve been so thoroughly convinced that the problem lies with them rather than their partner. What else are they supposed to think when their partner is so kind and generous and loving to everyone but them?

By writing Adam as a purely evil monster with no redeeming qualities, ShawLuna are contributing to the misconceptions surrounding abuse, making it harder for people to understand their situations or be able to recognize when someone they love is in trouble
